PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of discharging a gas generated from a storage battery to the outside. SOLUTION: A casing 1 comprises a body 2 and a front face cover 3 and has a battery box 9 housing a storage battery 8 of a sealed lead storage battery arranged inside. Ends of gas discharge pipes 16, 16 whose the other ends are connected and communicated to the inside of battery 9 are projected out at an upper and side surface of the casing 1. Hydrogen gas generated from the storage battery 8 during the last stage of the life is discharged to the atmosphere through these gas discharge pipes 16,16.
