PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fulfill the fine reading of the image of a printing medium, and to accurately carry the printing medium during non-image reading. SOLUTION: When the image of a recording medium 1 is read by a contact type sensor 21, the recording medium 1 is brought into contact with an image reading face 21a of the CCD sensor 21 by a medium presser member 24, and the medium presser member 24 is retreated from the image reading face 21a during non-picture reading. Thus, it is possible to fulfill the fine reading of the image of the printing medium 1, and to accurately print data at the desired position of the recording medium 1 by accurately carrying the printing medium 1 to a printing part during non-image reading. Also, it is possible to prevent the non-carriage of the recording medium 1 generated due to the strong pressure welding of the recording medium on the image reading face, and to prevent the generation of jam due to the non-carriage of the recording medium 1.
