PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a possibility of disturbing people close to a portable telephone by erroneously sounding crime preventing alarms on the basis of erroneous operation even in a nonemergency state when a push- button key or the like is used as crime preventing alarm sound request input method in the case of adding a crime preventing alarm sound generating function to the portable telephone. SOLUTION: When the generation of crime preventing alarm sounds is requested, in a first stage, the initial crime preventing alarm sounds of low volume are generated and after the lapse of time set by a T2 timer 14 for the initial crime preventing alarm sounds, the ordinary crime preventing alarm sounds of high volume are generated in a second stage. Since the generation of crime preventing alarm sounds is stopped by cancelling operation in the first stage of generating crime preventing alarm sounds, the generation of big sounds caused by erroneous operation is prevented.
