PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling object controller for moving a traveling object which performs a waxing work or the like in a designated range in an inexpensive constitution and which is provided with a function for automatically calculating the most efficient reciprocating interval according to the target of a user without making it necessary to preliminarily measure the work range. SOLUTION: This traveling object controller for controlling a traveling object performs a prescribed work to reciprocate with a proper interval so that the traveling object can performs the work everywhere in a designated range. The controller is provided with a position and direction controlling means for changing the position and direction of the traveling object by operating the traveling of the traveling object, an area setting means for starting the setting of the traveling area, a setting ending means for ending the setting of the traveling area, a starting state storing means for storing the position and direction of the traveling object at the time of starting the setting of the traveling area, an ending state storing means for storing the position and direction of the traveling object at the time of ending the setting of the area, and a reciprocating interval deciding means for deciding the work area and the reciprocating interval of the traveling object based on a relation between the position and direction of the traveling object at the time of starting the setting of the area and the position and direction of the traveling object at the time of ending the setting of the area.
