A dielectrokinesis effect meter to detect a change in the dielectrokinesis effects in an environment includes a current detector 10 connected to an antenna 2 and outputting a signal to a meter 50 indicative of the change in dielectrokinesis effect. The detector 10 includes an input picoampere low frequency amplifier 12 connected to the antenna and having a voltage noise spectral density curve to operate at less than 50 Hz, and an amplifier stage (of several amplifier stages 30 to 36 in cascade) to amplify the signal for presentment to the meter. The amplifier stage includes a zeroing circuit 22 to selectively standardize the output signal to a predetermined value commensurate with the instantaneous ambient dielectrokinesis condition.
