PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video and voice data recording management method which enhances the user's convenience by realizing a reproduction display method using the property of a serial program recorded in a videotape. SOLUTION: The method has a step to set a rule for associating each portion of recorded picture data with a plurality of separate small blocks respectively, a step for hooding the associating rule, a step to set the reproduction order rule of a plurality of small blocks for determining the reproduction order of the picture data based on the held associating rule, a step for holding the reproduction order rule, and a step to apply the held associating rule and the reproduction order rule to picture data newly recorded on a different time and date, and to prepare and hold a reproduction order rule for the newly recorded picture data.
