PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylindrical nickel/hydrogen secondary battery wherein a large current discharging possible. SOLUTION: In the cylindrical nickel/hydrogen secondary battery wherein a spiral electrode group P is composed by winding a sheet laminated material which is piled up by a positive electrode sheet 1 and a negative electrode sheet 2 together via a separator 3 and by encapsuled in a battery can 5 together with an electrolytic solution, the total opposing area of the positive electrode sheet 1 and the negative electrode sheet 2 has a value of 3 to 5 times an internal surface of can drum part of the battery can 5.
