Production of profiles from flexible material, e.g. rubber, uses extrusion plant with extruders which feed common extruder head. Profile produced is continuously moved away by conveyor. Pressure in the extruder head, is measured and signal is fed via high pass filter to computer to regulate speed of extruder screws. Weight/metre of profile, is also measured and fed to computer which regulates speed of conveyor. Production of profiles (5) from flexible material, e.g. rubber, uses an extrusion plant with extruders (1 - 3) which feed a common extruder head (4). The profile produced is continuously moved away by a conveyor (8). the pressure in the extruder head, or a parameter related to it, is measured and a signal is fed via a high pass filter (17) to a computer (20). This regulates the speed of the extruder screws to maintain the pressure at a desired value. The weight/metre of the profile, or a parameter related to it, is also measured and a signal is fed via a low pass filter (19) to the computer which regulates the speed of the conveyor to maintain the weight/metre at a desired value. An Independent claim is included for a machine for carrying out the process.
