An inline electrical connector includes a first housing shell (100) and a second housing shell (170). The first housing shell has a cable entrance section (115) and a planar mating section (105) that includes a plurality of electrical connectors (125). The second housing shell also has a cable entrance section (177) and a planar mating section (173) that has a plurality of electrical connectors (181). The second housing shell (170) can be mated with the first housing shell (100) by overlapping engagement of the planar mating sections (105, 173). The electrical connectors (125) on the first housing shell (100) are configured to mate with the electrical connectors (181) on the second housing shell (170) when the second housing shell (170) is mated with the first housing shell (100).
