[Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Bis - (2 - isocyanatoethyl) - fumarate, bis - (1 - methyl - 2 - isocyanatoethyl) - fumarate and 1 - methyl - 2 - isocyanatoethyl - 2 - isocyanatoethyl-fumarate are prepared by reacting 2 moles of monoethanolamine, monoisopropanolamine or mixtures thereof respectively with 1 mole of maleic anhydride in the presence of COCl 2 to first form the hydrochloride salt of the bis-(2- aminoethyl)-fumarate, which is then reacted with more COCl 2 to form the isocyanate. |
