The present invention discloses a novel polypeptide, a human prostate specific membrane antibody protein 9, the polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide and the method for producing the polypeptide by DNA recombinant technology. The invention also discloses the uses of the polypeptide in methods for treating various diseases, such as carcinoma of prostate, begnin tumor of prostate, other tumour, folic acid metabolic deficient illness, neural mental illness, inflammation, immunological disease, hemopathy, development disorder, HIV infection, etc. The invention also discloses the agonists against the polypeptide and the therapeutic action thereof.
