PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide another method of settlement on safe operation between purses in an electronic wallet system. SOLUTION: The electronic wallet system has plural devices, which can perform electronic commerce on an open network. Each device has a smart card reader. Plural smart cards indicate electronic purses which can include electronic money. One device has an entity called a server, and the server has a list of data entries, and each entry corresponding to a purse takes on the responsibility of receiving electronic money, included in a token from another purse in the system. The server temporarily stores the token, when the token is transmitted among purses. In order to improve the safety of a transaction, messages, exchanged between devices and/or smart cards during the token transmission operation, are protected by a secret key stored in only smart cards in the system. |
