PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately identify a bright member under use in a short time by retrieving the prepared optical microscope image data base of bright members when estimating blending of paints of unknown blending. SOLUTION: The feature parameter of bright members used for the paints of unknown blending is visually extracted, an image data base is retrieved while using the extracted feature parameter as a keyword, the image of a closest single bright member is projected on a monitor, the image of the paints of unknown blending is compared with the image of the single bright member and the kind of bright members used for the paints of unknown blending are identified.
