PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce wiring work and the number of components in a coil unit for a linear motor and to improve its reliability. SOLUTION: The coil unit 21 for the linear motor is formed by continuously providing a plurality of coils 19 formed by winding a conductor 32. The unit 21 has coil groups 22u, 22v, 22w of the same phase obtained by integrally forming the plurality of coils 19 of the continued conductor 32. The conductor 32 has a core wire made of an alloy containing a copper or an aluminum as a main component, and a self-fusion adhered wire having an insulating layer covering a surface of the core wire and a self-fusion adhesive layer. The groups 22u, 22v, 22w are formed by winding the conductor 32 made of the self-fusion adhesive wire, forming the plurality of the coils 19 at a predetermined interval and then fusion bonding between the conductors 32. Thus, a trunk pin for connecting the coils 19 is omitted. The wiring connecting operation and the number of the components are reduced, and the reliability is improved.
