PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio facsimile machine capable of realizing facsimile communication with the other facsimile machine by connecting an attachable and detachable radio communication device, and to provide the radio facsimile machine capable of realizing facsimile transmission processing even when any radio communication device is not connected, or even when the radio communication device can not be normally available and a method for controlling the radio facsimile machine. SOLUTION: The check processing (S105, S106, S108, and S109) of the presence or absence of connection of the radio communication device and a battery capacity is performed after operating original reading processing (S101) and encoding processing (S102).
