PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge a recording medium before the number of defective sectors of the recording medium exceeds the number of replaceable sectors of a spare region. SOLUTION: This device has a main recording section which records the data to be inputted, an auxiliary recording section which records the data of the main recording section to the attachable and detachable recording medium, a counter section for the number of the initial defective sectors for counting the number of the initial defective sectors, a counter section for the number of the defective blocks for counting the number of the defective blocks detected during the recording of the data to the recording medium, a control section and a display section. The control section totals the number of the defective sectors outputted from the counter section for the number of the initial defective sectors and the number of the defective blocks outputted from the counter section for the number of the defective blocks and dischargers the recording medium by controlling the display section so as to display the effect that the recording medium is no usable on the display section when the totaled number exceeds a preset value.
