Easy exchange of draft carriers in a charging or loading magazine is carried out with a retaining and rotation device, which are setup to rotate an exchangeable draft cylinder, and includes a charging or loading magazine (4) that contains a number (n) of magazine places (38) which are setup to hold the draft cylinders in the same orientation and height as on the retaining and rotation device of the drum scanner. The n-magazine places and the retaining and rotation device are arranged evenly spaced around a cylinder transportation carousel and has n+1-arms which extend star-wise to the n-magazine places and the retaining and rotation device and are setup so that the draft cylinders are located on the n-magazine places or the retaining and rotation device and are lifted together with the aid of the arm so as to move in a circle.
