A cavity filling element for rails, esp tram rails, can be prefabricated and consists of a body made of inorganic material which can be inserted into the cavities by pressing or gluing, while inserting elastic insulating material between the rail head and the rail base. The element is a one-piece unit, and the insulating material is eg polyolefin.
