<p>A catalyst converter permitting an easy mounting of a catalyst holder into a metal shell and having a holding seal material, for the catalyst holder, excellent in a cushioning property; and a diesel particulate filter system permitting an easy mounting of a diesel particulate filter into a metal shell and having a holding seal material excellent in a cushioning property. The catalyst converter comprises a catalyst holder, metal shell covering the holder externally, and a holding seal material disposed between the holder and the shell, wherein the holding seal material consists of an inorganic fiber mat needle-punched at a density of 50-3000 pieces per 100 cm<2> with the content of an organic matter greatly exceeding zero and being up to 2 wt.%, and delivers a surface pressure of 5-500 kPa when heated to 300-1000 DEG C at a filling density of 0.15-0.45 g/cm<3>, this holding seal material also being able to be used for a holding seal material for holding a diesel particulate filter.</p> |
