<p>Warranty support for purchased products (10, 30) is provided by an electronic warranty administrator (24) that maintains a plurality of databases. A first database (28) identifies customers (22, 154), either individuals or corporate entities having warrantied products. A second database (71) identifies the manufacturers (32) of those products (10, 30). The warranty administrator (24) coordinates between the customer (22, 154), the manufacturer (32) and a service provider to provide warranty repairs. Unlike conventional extended warranties offered by third parties, the manufacturer (32) remains in the repair process and thereby gains valuable information about the long term satisfaction of the customers (22, 154). The warranty administrator (24) also provides the manufacturer (32) with a means to contact the customer (22, 154) about other products, product recalls and affinity programs thereby promoting brand loyalty.</p> |
