The rotary connector has a pair of housing parts (1,5,101,105) coupled together such that they can rotate relative to each other. The strip-type flexible cable (9,17a,17b,109) is wound in an annular space formed by the housing parts (1,5,101,105). The flexible cable has a lead (11a,11b) for an air bag and another parallel lead (11c-11f). Both ends of the leads are fed out from the housing parts (1,5,101,105). At least one of the ends of each lead extending outside the housing is connected to a corresponding terminal (14a-14f) of a direct connector (10) provided on one of the housing parts. The direct connector (10) has a dividing wall (13) to separate a terminal (14a, 14b) connected to the lead (11a,11b) for the air bag from a terminal (14c-14f) connected to the other lead (11c-11f). An air gap (18) may be provided instead of a dividing wall (13a).
