CHIRAL LASER UTILIZING A QUARTER WAVE PLATE

A chiral laser (10) that achieves lasing by placing an emitting layer (16) with quarter wave plate properties and a cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) layer (12) both between two electrodes. The electrode connected to the emitting layer being highly reflective and serves as a source of electrons, while the second electrode is connected to the hole transporting CLC and serves as a source of holes.
