The perimeter (25) of the open side (23) of the cover (20), surrounds a locking device on the inside of the structural section. It includes a hole (29) through which a locking bolt can be moved back and forth. The bolt engages an opposite opening in the structural section. Along the perimeter, the cover is adhered using a sealant mass, onto a corresponding mounting surface on the interior of the structural section. An independent claim is included for the method of making the cover. A shrink plastic section is laid over a molding core. The core has an edge extending beyond its base. The shrink section is heated to a predetermined temperature over a given interval, to achieve the required shrinkage. It is then cooled over a set temperature range for a given interval. The projecting region left at the base is cut away, to leave a perimeter suitable for sealing as described. The cover is then positioned and sealed onto the surface provided on the structural component. Preferred features: Before heating the shrink plastic, its projecting edge is held firmly by a clamping plate held by fasteners to the underside. Edge separation is facilitated by a groove surrounding the core.
