The device has a slide (3) upon which the seat back is mounted and which is under the influence of a force accumulator which for movement of the slide is constructed with a locking device which is released in the rearwards in-use position. An additional force accumulator(6) is provided for the folding up of the seat section (2) after its unlocking from the horizontal in-use position. An operating component (5) is connected to the slide by a pull-cable and connected to locking elements.
