Multi-chamber hollow profile for use in windows and doors has reinforcing chambers (3, 4) into which reinforcing profiles (5, 6) are inserted. On the inside or outside of these are additional chambers (11, 12) which are subdivided by sloping cross bars (11 - 14, 23 -25). The chambers formed (16 -18, 32 - 34) have a maximum width of 5 mm, the widths at other positions in the chambers being less than this. An independent claim is included for a method for making the profile in which, after extrusion, the profile is allowed to cool in a calibrator.
