PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost, weight and size of a braking device with a selector valve provided in communication passages communicating a brake circuit divided into two systems and improve the durability by eliminating heat during operation and fail-safe performance. SOLUTION: The communication passages 21a, 21b are provided for communication between the side of a wheel cylinder beyond an outlet side gate valve 3 in a brake circuit 1 and the side of a wheel cylinder beyond the outlet side gate valve 3 in a brake circuit 2. On the way of the communication passages 21a, 21b, the selector valve 22 is provided for receiving a liquid pressure on the side of a master cylinder MC beyond the outlet side gate valve 3 in the brake circuit 1 and a liquid pressure on the side of the wheel cylinder WC beyond the outlet side gate valve 3 and communicating the communication passages 21a, 21b with each other while opening the valve only when the liquid pressure on the side of the wheel cylinder WC is higher than the liquid pressure on the side of the master cylinder MC.
