Device for progressive braking and stopping of a vehicle running on a cable

A trolley (2) which travels along a support cable (3) meets a sliding buffer (4) attached to a drum (6) on a fixed structure (7) by a second cable (5) and an elastic element (10). The drum (6) is connected to an hydraulic brake (8) with integral damping such that at the end of the travel there is no stored energy. The return of the trolley is made by an electric motor (11) which rewinds the drum. An Independent claim is included for a gravity operated transport system equipped with the braking method.
