PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polarization surface light source device capable of separating polarized light by an easy and inexpensive method. SOLUTION: In the polarization surface light source device having an end face incidence type light guide, a regular reflecting plate provided on the side opposite to a light-emitting plane of the light guide and a bar-shaped light source light attached to an end face of the light guide as main constructing elements, linearly polarized light in an oscillation direction in which non- polarized light transmitted in a haze anisotropic light guide has the maximum haze value is scattered and emitted by using the light guide having a haze anisotropy and having haze values different in the oscillation direction of the linearly polarized light as a light guide.
