PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control locking/unlocking on the cyberspace suitable for electronic commerce by means of the Internet, to give an instruction on locking/unlocking from a portable terminal unit, to receive a notice by electronic mail and further to control, on the cyberspace, the receipt of a rate of use of a cabinet and a commodity price to be held, in linkage to the control of a lock. SOLUTION: A locker system issues the instruction on locking/unlocking of the cabinet 101 from the portable terminal unit 300. The instruction is given from the portable terminal unit to a lock control unit 103 by radio. The lock control unit can record the conditions of unlocking and it conducts locking/ unlocking of a group of cabinets and communicates with a central control unit 200, exchanging communications therewith on the state of use of the cabinet and information on unlocking thereof. The central control unit conducts transmission/reception of the electronic mail between the portable terminal unit and it, communicating with a unit 500 for information on settlement of accounts and acquiring the information on settlement of accounts relating to the use of the cabinet. This unit can make a request for the receipt of the price relating to the use of the cabinet to an organization providing base services of mobile communication of the portable terminal unit.
