PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tank for an electric water heater not having possibility of lowering a sealing performance. SOLUTION: A flat flange 9 having a circular insertion hole 5 for inserting an electric heater and an annular packing body containing groove 1 surrounding a periphery of the hole 5 and opened toward an outside is formed integrally with a shell 1 by pressing. Mounting bolts 13a to 13a are disposed along the groove 7 at an outside of the groove 7 of the flange 9. A heater flange 23 having the heater inserted into the body via the hole 5 is clamped at a peripheral wall by using the bolts to block the hole 5. An annular flat late 11 is provided integrally with the flange 9 at a radial inside of the groove 1.
