PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle seat capable of absorbing the impact of a rear collision without sacrificing space under occupants' feet. SOLUTION: A seat bracket 5 fixed to a vehicle body floor is provided with slots 5f and 5r, and plates 8F and 8R are welded to the seat bracket 5 to close the slots 5f and 5r. Bolts 9F and 9R passed into through holes 6f and 6r in a lower rail 6 are passed into the slots 5f and 5r and through holes 8f and 8r in the plates 8F and 8R and threadably engaged with nuts 10F and 10R. Thus, the bolts 19F and 19R rupture the plates 8F and 8R by virtue of rearward impact load imposed on the seat during a rear collision to absorb the impact.
