APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR REFINING BOTTOM-POURING TYPE ELECTROSLAG

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroslag refining apparatus with which the supply of additional heat and current for facilitating the flow of refined molten metal are unnecessary. SOLUTION: This bottom-pouring type electroslag refining apparatus is the one, in which raw material is refined and the refined molten metal is obtained. The bottom-pouring type electroslag refining apparatus includes a crucible for electroslag refining, a bottom-pouring structural device having an orifice for flowing-out the slag and the refined molten metal as the flow of the refined molten metal from the crucible for electroslag refining, and an electric current path. This electric current path is regulated in the bottom pouring type electroslag refining apparatus and served to melt and refine the raw material by impressing the current to the raw material. The raw material melted and refined is formed as a refined molten metal pool in the crucible for electroslag refining. The current impressed with this electric current path is sufficient to impart the refined molten metal with such viscosity that the refined molten metal in the refined molten metal pool can be made to flow by passing through the orifice under its viscosity.
