PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ethylene-vinyl acetate-crosslinking monomer copolymer having high reactivity and excellent dry and wet strength in the field of nonwoven fabric and paper processing and producible without using a large amount of a paper-strengthening monomer, etc., for the improvement of the properties. SOLUTION: An aqueous emulsion composition of the ethylene-vinyl acetate- crosslinking monomer copolymer is produced by using an amide-modified polyvinyl alcohol expressed by general formula (1) ((a), (b) and (c) are each a degree of polymerization; and each unit is randomly polymerized) as a protective colloid stabilizer.
