<p>Belt (10) having a material engaging surface located between transverse edges (14) of the belt. The material engaging surface is comprised of a plurality of ribs (18) arranged in a plurality of overlapping columns (16) extending along the length of the belt. Each rib has a leading edge (20) and a trailing edge (22) extending across the transverse width of the belt, and each rib is defined by a centerline (24) located midway between the leading and trailing edge of the rib.
