PURPOSE: A method for enhancing the biosynthesis of poly-hydroxyalkanoate using Alcaligenes latus T1 being a transformant of phb synthase gene is provided, which mass-produces biodegradable polymer being an environmentally friendly material and used as a substituent of a nondegradable polymer such as a plastic material. CONSTITUTION: A method for enhancing the biosynthesis of a poly-hydroxyalkanoate such as poly-β-hydroxybutyrate or poly-hydroxyvalerate or its copolymer such as poly (3-hydroxybutyrate-3-hydroxyvalerate) or poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-4-hydroxybutyrate) is characterized by using a transformant of microbes, preferably, Alcaligenes latus T1 which increases the expression of phb(polyhydroxybutyrate)C gene of poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate synthase. Wherein, poly-beta-hydroxybutyrate synthase participates in the biosynthesis of poly-hydroxyalkanoate.
