GLOW PLUG FOR DIESEL ENGINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the diameter of a glow plug for a diesel engine without lowering strength of a housing 2. SOLUTION: A sheath type heater 30 is fixed to one end of an interior of the substantially circular cylindrical housing 2 and an electrode securing thread part 38b of an external connection terminal 38 connected to an electrode removal tool 14 for the sheath type heater 30 at one end thereof is protruded out of the other end of the housing 2. An O-ring 42 and an insulation bushing 12 are inserted in an inside hole 4 at the other side of the housing 2 and the end part of the housing 2 is caulked for fixing. The electrode removal tool 14 is made of a high strength material so that its diameter as well as the diameter of the sheath 12 is reduced. An assembly 40 comprising the sheath type heater 30, the electrode removal tool 14 and the external connection terminal 38 having the thread part 38b of power source connection which is not yet threaded is inserted into the housing, and then the thread part 38b is form-rolled.
