PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high hardness gas atomizing shots in which the average hardness and dispersion are equal to those of powder for powdery high speed tool steel for gas atomizing subjected to blasting or tempering as a dummy even as gas-atomized, i.e., the average hardness is >=850 HmV, and moreover, the dispersion of the hardness is <=50 HmV by a standard deviation and used for blasting such as shot peening. SOLUTION: This high hardness gas atomizing shots have a componential composition containing, by weight, 0.9 to 3.5% C, 0.02 to 1.00 % Si, <=0.40% Mn, 2.0 to 6.0% Cr,<=8.0% Mo, 5.0 to 30.0% W, 4.0 to 8.0% V and 5.0 to 15.0% Co, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and in which the average hardness as gas-atomized is >=850 HmV, and further, the dispersion of the hardness is <=50 HmV by a standard deviation.
