PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag for a front passenger seat which can be rapidly deployed along the front passenger seat side surface of an instrument panel at the initial stage of deployment. SOLUTION: The air bag 10 has a gas inflow port 12 disposed along an approximately horizontal plane, and a flow-straightening fabric 20 covering the gas inflow port 12 and varying the flow of inflation gas G flowing therein is disposed inside an air bag body 11. The flow-straightening fabric 20 is positioned to cover the gas inflow port 12 along the horizontal direction of the vehicle and is disposed so that the flow of inflation gas Gb flowing rearwardly of an approximate longitudinal mid position C is greater than the flow of inflation gas Ga flowing forwardly of the position C.
