PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil for an internal combustion engine, capable of exhibiting excellent lubricating properties and a fuel cost saving effect even in the presence of a soot. SOLUTION: This lubricating oil composition for an internal combustion engine useful in an internal combustion engine causing a soot comprises a base oil of a lubricating oil, sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiocarbamate of general formula (1) as a component (A) and sulfurized oxymolybdenum dithiophosphate of general formula (2) (R1 to R8 are each a hydrocarbon group; and X1 to X8 are each sulfur or oxygen) as a compound (B). The composition exhibits excellent lubricating properties as a lubricating oil for an internal combustion engine such as a diesel engine, a direct injection engine, etc., causing a soot.
