PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyether-based water-soluble metal processing oil composition having low foaming property and imparting excellent lubricity to aluminum and other metals. SOLUTION: The objective water-soluble metal processing oil composition is produced by using water as a base and contains 0.5-70 wt.% (based on the total composition) polyether of general formula (1): X -(EO)n-(AO)m-H}k (X is a residue obtained by removing active hydrogen atoms from an amine or an alkanolamine having >=3 active hydrogen atoms; EO is oxyethylene group; AO is a >=3C oxyalkylene group; (n) and (m) are each 1-60; and (k) is >=3), 0.5-30 wt.% 6-12C carboxylic acid and 0.5-60 wt.% basic compound.
