PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of preventing quality of a display picture from deteriorating without increasing the manufacturing cost irrespective of the area of the effective pixel part. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel 10 holding a liquid crystal layer 300 between a pair of substrates 100, 200 and a backlight unit 12 to illuminate the liquid crystal display panel. The polarizing plate 210 arranged on the outer surface of the counter substrate 200 of the liquid crystal display panel 10, has a projecting and recessing layer on the surface. The projecting and recessing layer has <=25 μm pitch of the protrusion and the recession on the average.
