PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid receiving device of a low-cost configuration where the amount of coolant used for refrigerating cycle is reduced. SOLUTION: A high-temperature and high-pressure coolant compressed by a compressor (not shown) is supplied to a heat exchanger (condenser) through an oil separator and the like, where it is condensed and liquidified to pass an expansion valve through a first coolant inlet 15 of a 3-way valve 14, a coolant outlet 17, a main liquid piping 18, and a dry core 19 while depressurized and expanded, to be supplied to a low-pressure side heat exchanger (evaporator). One end of a piping 20 which is smaller in diameter than the main liquid piping 18 is communicated to a pipe which connects the dry core 19 to the low-pressure side heat exchanger, while the other end of it is communicated to the upper part of a liquid receiving device 10 through an electromagnetic valve 21. So a part of the coolant returns to the liquid receiving device 10 since the electromagnetic valve 1 is opened during operation of the refrigerating cycle.
