The roll stand has a hydraulic cylinder unit (11) with a cylinder (12) and a piston (13) joined to the roll stand frame (1) and to the bearing block (2) which houses a bearing (3) for a roll carrier shaft (5). Using this cylinder unit, the roll carrier shaft (5) is adjustable in a direction (14) relative to a further roll carrier shaft (9) installed in the roll stand.
