PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the excessive temperature rise of each optical component even in the case a light source has a high-output performance. SOLUTION: The projector comprizes a light source 57, dichroic mirrors 5, 50 and 51 for splitting the light emitted from the light source 57 into three primary colors, and liquid crystal panels 7, 70 and 71 arranged on an optical axis L and correspondent to each split light in a cabinet 6, and also comprizes an ultraviolet light absorbing filter 1 near the light source 57. An auxiliary ultraviolet light absorbing filter 2 for absorbing the short-wavelength light transmitted through the filter 1 is arranged on the light source 57 side of the liquid crystal panel 71 which is correspondent to the blue light with the shortest wavelength on an optical axis L. |
