<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving the strength of the end faces of a glass substrate, and a glass substrate for flat panel display. SOLUTION: The method of improving the strength of the end faces of a glass substrate comprises the following steps: a solution containing one or more kinds of compounds selected from among lithium salts, sodium salts, potassium salts, boric acid and phosphoric acid is applied on the end faces of a glass substrate; the substrate is dried; and subsequently, it is heat-treated at a temperature of the strain point of the glass±100 deg.C. The glass substrate for flat panel display is also provided.</p> |
