PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lip type seal 3 having excellent pressure tightness by preventing the bending deformation of a back face support plate S6 caused by the pressure in a sealed space S1. SOLUTION: The inner periphery of a case 31 closely fitted and fixed to the inner peripheral surface of a housing 1 through a gasket means 32e is provided with a resin lip member 33 comprising an inner peripheral seal part 33c extended bending onto the sealed space S1 side from a radial part 33a and its inner periphery to form a seal face to the outer peripheral surface of a rotary shaft 2; the back face support plate 36 disposed abutting on the back face of the radial part 33a; and a stopper 37b with its back face supported on a support face 13 of the housing 1 through a second resin lip member 34 and a second back face support plate 38 and with its tip brought close to or into contact with the back face of the inner peripheral part of the back face support plate 36. This constitution prevents the deformation of the back face support plate 36 caused by pressure applied to the front face of the resin lip member 33 and the consequent contact of the back face support plate 36 with the rotary shaft 2. |
