PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy absorbing steering column device for absorbing shock energy in addition to holding the stiffness necessary for a bracket. SOLUTION: This steering column device has a column 1 for supporting a steering shaft 3; and a bracket 2 integrated with the column 1 and fixed to a car body through a bolt shaft 9, and the bolt shaft 9 inserted into an insertion hole 2c formed in the bracket 2 is relatively movable along the steering shaft 3 direction to the bracket 2, and absorbs shock energy by the resistance force caused by the deformation of the bracket 2 by the relative movement of the bolt shaft 3, and the bolt shaft insertion hole 2c forms a specified angle in the length direction to the steering shaft 3 axis direction, projects from the bracket 2 by a degree deformable in the steering shaft 3 axis direction when the bold shaft 9 is relatively moved, and has a part 2b thinner than the other part 2a of the bracket 2. |
