PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance combustion efficiency and reduce the discharge of unburnt gas by making a lean mixture within a main combustion chamber 2 attain complete combustion in a torch ignition type engine wherein a fuel for torch ignition guided into an auxiliary chamber 1 mounted on a cylinder head 8 and ignited by a ignition plug 7 and a fuel torch is issued from nozzle holes of a mouthpiece 4 of the chamber 1 mounted on the cylinder head 9 into the mixture within the chamber 2 for the purpose of making the mixture burnt. SOLUTION: The nozzle holes are provided with horizontal nozzle holes 31 wherein the angle of aperture of a nozzle hole axis relative to the downward direction of a cylinder axis is set within the range of 85 to 120 degrees.
