PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thiazolylcinnamic acid nitrile compound and a harmful organism controlling agent comprising the above compound as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by a general formula (I), wherein R represents a 1-6C alkyl group, the formula COR4 or the formula CH2OCOR4 or the like; R1 represents hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group or the like; R2 and R3 are same or different and they represents a 1-6C alkoxy group or a 1-6C alkylthio group or they together represent oxygen atom or the like. This harmful organism-controlling agent comprises one or more kinds of the above compounds as active components.
