PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce quantity of processed data and to dispense with an eyepiece. SOLUTION: The lines or columns of an image sensor 5 are arranged in a measuring direction. When adjusting digital level, the range of the image sensor comprising a small number of lines or a small number of columns is defined. This range extends symmetrically (uniformly) to the right and left of a through-point M of an optical axis of a lens 4 which passes through the image sensor, and only the pixel data of sensor elements in this range is further used for measurement.
